The way the legal system is applied differs from nation to nation and is mostly influenced by the particular history of that nation. The origins of the Malaysian legal system may be linked to British colonial control, and understanding this history of the law creates the groundwork for comprehending and putting into practise other legal concepts, such as those of administrative, judicial, and constitutional law. The "Malaysian Legal System" book, which has 35 chapters and covers all aspects of Malaysia's legal system, was written by authorities in their disciplines who have a keen interest in the topic. With reference to the pertinent statutes and decided cases, it traces the history and roots of this nation's legal system before and during the British "invasion" into the Straits Settlements, Malay States, and the Borneo States. With reference to sections 3 and 5 of the Civil Law Act 1956 (Revised 1972), the contemporary application of English law in Malaysia is explored. It also covers, among other things, where Malaysian law came from, how laws are made in parliament, how laws are interpreted and constructed, how justice is administered, and how Malaysian lawyers practise, particularly under the Syariah system. Also covered are the key components of procedural law, specifically the civil procedure, criminal procedure, and the law of evidence.
