Because of the rapid rise in the use of cryptocurrencies and digital assets, all legal and social problems surrounding them, such as their legality, customer protection concerns, and security implications, must be addressed as quickly as feasible.

The purpose of this book is to explain the concept of cryptocurrencies as well as the legal and regulatory context in which it operates. The Securities Commission Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia, and the Financial Action Task Force have all released regulatory recommendations, based on the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001, respectively (AMLA). The study and interpretation of the profusion of regulations and policy documents pertaining to the regulation of bitcoin and digital assets in this book will surely be useful.

Anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) issues that occur in relation to cryptocurrencies and digital assets, as well as their regulation, are thoroughly examined. Peer-to-peer lending, initial coin offerings (ICOs), and equity crowdfunding are all explored. Bitcoin scams, difficulties, and concerns are discussed, as well as taxation and cryptocurrency acceptability from a Shariah perspective.

This book will benefit designated reporting institutions, the legal profession, policymakers, potential investors, academics, students, and the general public.
