Ethos in Legal Practice is an authoritative and practical resource tailored for final-year law students, Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) candidates, pupils in chambers, and newly admitted lawyers embarking on their legal careers in Malaysia. Drawing extensively from the Legal Profession Act 1976, the Bar Council’s Rules and Rulings, and leading Malaysian judicial decisions, this book provides a thorough examination of the ethical principles, professional obligations, and responsibilities that underpin legal practice.

The text addresses a wide range of essential topics, including law firm management, counsel’s professional duties and undertakings, liability arising from negligence and misconduct, disciplinary procedures, contempt of court, and the complete journey from pupillage to admission to the Bar. Each chapter is carefully organised to promote clarity, practical understanding, and effective learning.

Whether preparing for examinations, undertaking pupillage, or commencing legal practice, readers will find this book an indispensable guide. Updated with the latest legislative developments and relevant case authorities, it equips aspiring and practising lawyers with the knowledge, insight, and confidence required to address ethical issues and maintain the highest standards of professionalism within the legal profession.
