Akta Perhimpunan Aman ialah suatu Akta yang berhubungan dengan hak untuk berhimpun secara aman dan tanpa senjata, dan untuk memperuntukkan sekatan-sekatan yang didapati perlu atau suai manfaat yang berhubungan dengan hak itu demi kepentingan keselamatan Persekutuan atau mana-mana bahagiannya atau ketenteraman awam, termasuk perlindungan hak dan kebebasan orang lain, dan untuk memperuntukkan perkara-perkara yang berkaitan.

 

 The Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (Akta Perhimpunan Aman 2012) is a Malaysian law that governs the right to hold peaceful assemblies in public places. The act was passed in 2012 and came into effect on 23 April 2012, replacing the Internal Security Act 1960 and the Police Act 1967 in regards to public assemblies.

Under the act, organizers must provide the police with 10 days' notice before holding an assembly, specifying the date, time, location, and expected number of participants. The police may then issue a permit, which is required for all assemblies held in public places, except for those held in designated places called "freedom of assembly areas".

The act also imposes several restrictions on the right to assemble peacefully, including prohibiting assemblies that would threaten national security, public order, or morality, or that are likely to cause a disturbance or nuisance. Additionally, the police may impose additional conditions on the assembly, such as the maximum number of participants, the route to be taken, and the duration of the assembly.

Critics of the act argue that it is restrictive and violates the right to freedom of assembly, and that the police have used the act to suppress peaceful protests and detain activists. Supporters of the act argue that it is necessary to maintain public order and prevent violence, and that it strikes a balance between the right to peaceful assembly and the need to protect public safety.
