The 2026 edition of Archbold: Criminal Pleading, Evidence & Practice — the leading reference for criminal law in the Crown Court — will be released in October 2025 in both print and eBook formats.

Originally published more than two centuries ago, the 2026 edition maintains Archbold’s long-standing reputation as a vital resource for Crown Court practitioners, offering trusted, current, and thorough legal guidance. This latest edition includes updates reflecting recent legislative changes, such as the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, as well as secondary legislation like reforms to corporate criminal liability under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, and new offences introduced by the Online Safety Act 2023.

There are also technical amendments to sentencing aimed at reducing pressure on the prison system. These include revised rules on the minimum time determinate sentence prisoners must serve, broader eligibility for home detention curfew, and updated procedures for public protection assessments.

Additionally, the Criminal Procedure Rules have been revised and reissued as the Criminal Procedure Rules 2025 (SI 2025/909). The main volume has been updated to incorporate these changes, with the full text of the new rules provided in Appendix 1 of the Supplement.
