About Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat
Tun Tengku Maimun is the 16th Chief Justice of Malaysia and the first woman to hold the position. She graduated with honours in law from the University of Malaya in 1982 and entered the Judicial and Legal Service in 1986. Her distinguished career included roles as Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman, Magistrate, Federal Counsel, Deputy Registrar, and Chief Registrar of the Federal Court.
Appointed as Judicial Commissioner in 2006, she later rose to become a High Court Judge, Court of Appeal Judge, and Federal Court Judge. On 2 May 2019, she was appointed Chief Justice of Malaysia. Throughout her journey, she has been widely respected for her intellectual rigour, unwavering integrity, and steadfast defence of judicial independence and the rule of law.
