About the Author: 

John Uff CBE KC is an internationally recognised arbitrator, advocate, engineer, and academic with extensive expertise in engineering and construction law. Throughout his legal career, he has developed a wide-ranging practice in these fields while remaining actively engaged in academic work, including teaching and legal writing.

In academia, he founded the Centre of Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King's College London in 1987 and served as its inaugural Director. In 1992, he was appointed to the Nash Chair of Engineering Law at the University of London.

His contributions to the legal, academic, and engineering professions have received significant recognition. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2002 New Year Honours and, in the same year, received the Gold Medal of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
