An Act to provide for the control of factories with respect to matters relating to the safety, health and welfare of persons therein, the registration and inspection of machinery and for matters connected therewith.

The Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (Act 139) is a piece of legislation in Malaysia that aims to regulate the safety, health, and welfare of persons employed in factories and machinery. As of 15th October 2020, the following regulations, rules, and orders were in effect:
  1. Factories and Machinery (Steam Boiler and Unfired Pressure Vessel) Regulations, 1970 - These regulations provide detailed requirements for the construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of steam boilers and unfired pressure vessels used in factories.
  2. Factories and Machinery (Noise Exposure) Regulations, 1989 - These regulations set limits on the maximum allowable noise exposure levels for workers in factories and machinery.
  3. Factories and Machinery (Safety, Health and Welfare) Regulations, 1970 - These regulations cover a wide range of topics, including the management of factories, the use of machinery, the handling of hazardous substances, and the provision of basic amenities such as toilets and first aid.
  4. Factories and Machinery (Person-In-Charge) Regulations, 1970 - These regulations require every factory to appoint a person-in-charge who is responsible for the overall safety, health, and welfare of the workers in the factory.
  5. Factories and Machinery (Notification of Accident, Dangerous Occurrence, Occupational Poisoning and Occupational Disease) Regulations, 2004 - These regulations require factories to report any accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning, or occupational diseases to the relevant authorities.
