Foundations of Criminal Law in Singapore provides a clear and authoritative overview of the country’s core criminal law principles. It examines unresolved questions and legal nuances, suggests possible approaches to selected issues, and explains the connections between criminal law, criminal procedure, evidence and sentencing.
The book focuses on fundamental principles that apply across offences, including statutory interpretation, jurisdiction, the physical and fault elements of crime, concurrence, strict liability, commonly raised general and special defences, attempts, abetment, criminal conspiracy and common intention. Written in an accessible style, it combines practical guidance with thoughtful academic analysis.
It is a valuable resource for readers seeking a practical introduction, a firm grounding in Singapore criminal law, or guidance on complex issues that remain unsettled.
