Franchise Business In Malaysia : Law, Cases, Code of Conduct and Ethics by Khalek Awang | 2023

Khalek Awang is a senior lawyer who was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1998. He later co-founded the law firm Khalek Awang & Associates, where he has been actively practicing law for the past 24 years. His areas of expertise include trademark agency work, legal advisory services, and corporate liability training and consultancy.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree, earned in 1991, and a Master of Comparative Law degree, completed in 1992. In 1999, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Syariah Law and Practice, and he is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Islamic Banking and Finance.

Earlier in his career, from 1992 to 1997, Khalek served as a law lecturer at the Faculty of Law, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he specialized in Company Law, Land Law, and Public International Law.

Since the introduction of the Franchise Act 1998, he has been actively involved in delivering lectures, talks, and training sessions on franchise law and franchise business. In 2022, he was elected Assistant Secretary General of the Malaysia Franchise Association (MFA) for the 2022–2024 term.
