About The Author:

Justice Andrew Phang Boon Leong obtained his LL.B. from the University of Singapore in 1982, followed by an LL.M. and S.J.D. from Harvard University in 1984 and 1988. He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore in 1990.

He began his academic career at the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Law, where he taught from 1982 to 2000 and was appointed Professor of Law in 1999. He later joined the Singapore Management University as Professor of Law in 2000 and became Chair of the Department of Law at the SMU Business School in 2001. A prolific legal scholar, he has authored numerous publications, including the Singapore edition of Cheshire, Fifoot and Furmston’s Law of Contract. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2004 and subsequently joined the judiciary as Judicial Commissioner in 2005, Judge in 2005, and Judge of Appeal in 2006.
