This book examines industrial design law in Singapore, beginning with a general overview of industrial design, its significance to Singapore’s creative industries, and its connection with intellectual property law. It then provides a detailed examination of Singapore’s registered design system, followed by chapters exploring how copyright, passing off, and trade mark law may also play a role in protecting particular aspects of industrial design. The book further considers the challenges arising from the overlap between different forms of intellectual property protection. For comparative and law reform purposes, it also discusses relevant aspects of English, European, and Australian law. Finally, the book identifies several areas in which potential reforms to Singapore’s industrial design law could be considered.
