This book examines the development and application of intellectual property law in Singapore. Its contents are organised into six Parts: Introduction; Copyright; Patents, Innovation and Inventions; Designs; Trade Marks, Passing Off and Unfair Competition; and Confidential Information. Each Part is structured to enable independent study, although cross-referencing between Parts and individual chapters is important because different forms of intellectual property may overlap.

As with many jurisdictions, Singapore’s intellectual property framework is closely connected to a broader body of international legal principles, norms, and standards. Accordingly, a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property law requires consideration not only of its historical development but also of the impact of international treaties and conventions on the various areas of intellectual property.
