Malik's Law Relating to Power of Attorney, 3rd Edition | 2020

In the 2024 edition, Stroud's dictionary defines "Power of Attorney" as an authority allowing one person to act in place of another. A power of attorney is a formal authorization where the donor, or principal, empowers another person—referred to as the donee, attorney, or agent—to act on their behalf. The Law Commission's Sixty-Eighth Report reviewed the Power of Attorney Act, 1882 (VII of 1882), which had functioned effectively for a century. However, the Act did not include a definition of "Power of Attorney." To address this gap, the Amending Act No. 55 of 1982 introduced a definition through the addition of Section 1-A. This new section offers an inclusive definition. The book has now reached its third edition, reflecting the ongoing demand from readers and the need to update the previous edition.

Every effort has been made to include the most recent amendments and case law developments. While revising the book, the essence of the original edition has been carefully preserved. This edition includes the customary Table of Cases and a comprehensive Subject Index to assist our busy readers.
