About the author:
Dr. Tan Lay Hong has six years of civil litigation experience at the Singapore bar before transitioning to academia at Nanyang Business School, NTU, where she served as a tenured Associate Professor for 24 years. She later rejoined practice as a Consultant. Dr. Tan is a prolific writer with publications in notable journals such as The International and Comparative Quarterly, The Journal of Corporate Law, The Australian Law Journal, and The Journal of Trade and Investment, garnering 201 citations. Her most recent work is the second edition of the Annotations to the Companies Act, Cap 50. In 2013, she was featured in The Straits Times, Scholars’ Choice for her dedication to students. From 2018 to 2020, she volunteered at the Legal Aid Bureau and taught at NUS Law School’s Pro Bono and Legal Clinic. In 2021, she taught the Singapore Legal System to foreign graduates and lawyers for the Singapore bar exams. She currently practices as a Consultant at Temple Counsel LLP and serves as an honorary legal adviser to the Singapore Federation of Karate-do.
