Building on its established reputation as a leading authority on English law and practice in commercial arbitration, the second edition of Arbitration of Commercial Disputes introduces the insight of a new co-author to reflect the significant changes in the arbitration landscape over the past decade.

The book adopts a more accessible and structured format, guiding readers step by step through the arbitration process from beginning to end, while preserving its distinctive comparative analysis of arbitration systems across both common law and civil law jurisdictions. It explains the operation of the Arbitration Act 1996 as updated by the Arbitration Act 2025, and examines key institutional rules shaping arbitration today, including the ICC Arbitration Rules 2021 and the LCIA Arbitration Rules 2020.

It also offers in-depth analysis of recent case law developments, covering issues such as the governing law of arbitration agreements, arbitrators’ disclosure obligations, and the use of anti-suit and anti-arbitration injunctions. In addition, the authors consider broader influences on arbitration, including Brexit and the growing role of technology and artificial intelligence.

Written in a clear and accessible manner, this edition serves as a valuable reference for judges and arbitration practitioners, as well as a comprehensive introductory resource for academics, students, and researchers seeking an in-depth understanding of English arbitration law and its international context.
